What is Rainbow Aura Quartz?
When we first learned about Rainbow Aura Quartz, we were confused.
We thought Rainbow Aura Quartz was another type of natural Quartz...
But it's not.
Rainbow Aura is actually the same as regular Clear Quartz... but it's been bonded with precious metals -- gold and titanium.
Pretty neat that clear quartz + gold + platinum = a mystical rainbow crystal right?
How these parts are bonded together is a topic for another article though.
The important part is that the extra precious metals mean that Rainbow Aura Quartz and regular Quartz do have distinct properties.
One area they have in common is that both clear quartz and the Rainbow Aura variety resonate well with all 7 chakras.
Given it's rainbow color, this shouldn't be that big of a surprise.
Although the "only difference" is the addition of platinum and gold, you should take care of this crystal just like you would normal Clear Quartz.

General Care for a Rainbow Aura Quartz
Hardness runs in the family I guess. This multi-colored beauty scores an average 7 on Mohs scale of mineral hardness.
Just like the majority of quartz.
This number just means that other crystals might scratch it.
But it could scratch some of your other crystals too.
So you should keep your stones seperated, otherwise somebody is gonna end up scratched!
Don't just bury it in a box somewhere though!
It might get sad being hidden away.
And it will definitely get dusty.

How To Clean Your Rainbow Aura Quartz Crystal
Rainbow and bubbles... what's better than that?
But wait a moment!
It's bonded with gold and titanium right?
Can soap hurt our gold? What about titanium?
Nope! & Nope!
Neither titanium nor gold is damaged by soap.
Not damaged by vinegar either.
Which works well for us since we don't want to hurt our crystal!
And since neither raw Rainbow Aura Quartz nor tumbled is harmed from a splash of vinegar...
It's bath time!

- Fill your favorite bowl with vinegar, warm lemon juice, or soapy water.
- Let your piece enjoy its bath for awhile.
- Use a soft cloth and polish your crystal.
- Run some warm water over your gemstone to get rid of the stinky vinegar.
Will Your Rainbow Aura Quartz Fade?
There are a couple different crystals that fade due to direct sunlight.
Sodalite, Amethyst, and Amazonite are a few examples.
Lucky for us, real Rainbow Aura Quartz will not fade in the sun.
How to Charge Rainbow Aura Quartz
Charging your raw Rainbow Aura Quartz or tumbled stone is as easy as letting it return to Mother Earth for 24 hours.
Dig into your garden a little bit, cover it up, and leave it to recharge.
You can put a form of natural covering or wrap it in cloth to keep to dirt from falling into any cracks.
If you're working with a tumbled stone, probably won't have cracks!!
We also like using Full Moon moonlight to cleanse our crystal too.
Check If Your Rainbow Aura Quartz Is Real
Discening if you've got a fake stone or not shouldn't be your first concern.
You've first gotta check you haven't accidently mixed up your crystals!
There are many rainbow gemstones that share a similar look:
Opal Aura Quartz, Mystic Topaz, Iris Agate, Rainbow Flourite, and Precious Opal to name a couple.
Once you're 100% sure you've got the right kind of stone, then we can check if you have real Rainbow Aura Quartz.

How To Do a "Fog Test"
If you have a Rainbow Aura and want to confirm it’s authenticity... just breath on it.
Pretty odd right? True. But it works!
Real Rainbow Aura crystal will evaporate your breath in around 1 second.
But a fake crystal can take as long as 5 seconds to totally evaporate.
Real stone holds moisture longer than fakes do, that's why the Fog Test works.
Why do fake crystals hold moisture for so long?
Becase fake Rainbow Aura is made from glass.
How To Do a "Bubble Test"
Lead glass has a different physical flaw -- bubbles.
You will see tiny bubbles in your fake Rainbow Aura if you examine it closely.
But remember, inclusions are not the same as bubbles!
Inclusions are really small crystals that stopped growing and got surround by other crystal.
Since real gemstones take years to form, it's possible to have tiny crystals inside -- but aint can't get trapped.
And if you think you're might find a glass gemstone without ANY air pockets at all...
No way. All glass gemstones have this same flaw.

It is rare because bonding a crystal with platinum and gold isn't all that profitable.
So because of that there is less Rainbow Aura Quartz out there in the market
But that's alright!
That means we can get a unique stone without paying Watermelon Tourmaline level prices.
Smaller chunks of Rainbow Aura Quartz can be found for as low as $2 per carat.
While higher quality gemstones range from $5 - $10 per carat depending on the size and quality of the piece.
